If it can be summed up in one line, Poetry Mag came into existence to add a necessary voice to the literary community on the internet.
As a group we found plenty of sites promoting poetry. We surfed through Yahoo's "web-published poets," and slid down the indexes of every other major search engine looking for writing that would make our effort worthwhile. We wanted to find the little unknown, unpublished writers - the ones with the undiscovered talent that could, as Emily Dickinson said, blow off the top of our heads.
Mostly, we were disappointed.
We are happy that people are writing, and we applaud their efforts. But what you'll find in Poetry Mag are works we are proud to share with you, our readers.
There are no classics to be found here - not yet. What you will find is a collective voice of writers from all genres, all backgrounds, whose voices combine to warm your heart, chill your spine, educate your mind, run away with you, and most important - inspire you.
If you wish to add your voice, submissions and comments are always welcome.
